Thanks so much for reading and liking my article! The reasoning behind the coasts was that when I would show the assembled buildings I created to other people, they were often confused about how big the buildings were supposed to be. In my head, they were the size of a large house, but sometimes, outside observers thought they were as big as a city block. So by adding the coasts and the trees, I was able to define the scale for the creater, as well as the observer, closer to what I had envisioned in my head. The coasts also added a dimension beyond the flat base and allowed for different environments (water & land) to interact with each other. I am also still working on finding or creating boats that will help better illustrate the scale even more and give life to what is now stagnant water.
